Three Years of A Broken Covenant

OpinionGuest EssaysThree Years of A Broken Covenant

By Da One

Without blinking, I look you in the eyes with all the strength I could muster, to tell you that you are a liar, a cheat and a megalomaniac delusional human being. Just like your predecessor, Yahya Jammeh. Yes, I am talking to you Adama Barrow. You are morally not deserving of the title of the President of the Republic of The Gambia. Perhaps that’s already minted into your conscience, if you get one.

It was on the 19th January 2017 you were sworn in as the president of our country in The Gambian embassy, in Dakar, Senegal. What a difference these three years of broken promises and empty political theatrics has brought to our shores. Instead of focusing on the reform agenda sold to us, you allowed the smell of power to indelibly corrupt your moral and ethical taste buds. We Gambians did not send you to our highest office to come up with a development agenda/blueprint. Nor did we vote for you to form an agenda-less political party.

As if we are a cursed folk, the level of corruption, poverty and institutional decay has also gone over the rooftop. All under your watch, Adama Barrow.

History will not forgive your treachery and those of your former political handlers.
