Dear Sir / Madam
Re: Section 5 Action – To Abort The Terrifying Dictatorship Tendency of The CRC Act 2017
We write to you with respect to the above.
Following our thorough examination of the Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) Act 2017 (copy attached) which was passed by the National Assembly on the 11th of December 2017 and assented to by the President on the 11th of January 2018, we drafted an article (copy attached) depicting our measured but objective assessment of such legislation. This was geared towards bringing to the attention of the Gambian people, friends and international partners of The Gambia the imminent threat such present to our democracy and the need for appropriate urgent citizen corrective action.
The CRC Act 2017 is wholly inconsistent with the Constitution of our Sovereign Republic and, its implementation will constitute an irreconcilable but preventable treason which will inevitably amount to a mockery of our democratic existence – something which no patriotic Gambian citizen should allow to happen in this modern age.
Given the above, and having carefully considered the subject – matter in its entirety, we came to the reasoned conclusion that firm citizen partnership action is required (from the entire Gambian citizenry) for the purposes of taking the required steps (Supreme Court Petition) to prevent our democracy being disrupted or subverted and salvage those concerned from committing such treason. The aforementioned course of action is an absolute necessity if we are to preserve our democracy and new found international dignity & respect.
In light of the above, we hereby officially make a polite request to your organisation / entity and ask that you join us in this innovative and patriotic Cause for the long-term benefit of our people, country and the preservation of Gambian democracy.
We hope sufficient information has been provided in order to assist you in your evaluations. However, should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We look forward to promptly hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Democracy Watch Gambia (D.W.G).
