A man believed to be one of the Imams in Brikama Jalangbang was found dead just behind the complex of The Gambia College on the back road to Jalangbang on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses reported the deceased man to be one Saidou Barry, who was almost certainly attacked resulting to his death.
The victim, who lived at Imam Junction in Jalangbang was also known to be a livestock trader at the Brikama Livestock market, where he trekked back and forth daily.
A police source confirmed a body was discovered from that location but would not give any details.
A resident of Jalangbang said the late Barry was a devoted Muslim who regularly led prayers in Jalangbang.
Speaking to The Gambia Times, Lamin Njie, The Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), confirmed the story and said investigation are ongoing and that the police will brief the media on the issue as soon as possible.
