Apology too Little, too Late

Undoubtedly, apology not accepted. I have outlined the treacheries of Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang (FJT) in a series of write-ups, but it seems she is not digesting any serious content from the Gambian media terrain. After beefing up her CV and bank accounts from the public coffers without anything to show for it, she now turns around to apologize to Gambians for turning the Coalition MoU, that she sold to them, into a worthless piece of toilet paper.

Fatoumatta Tambajang did not have the guts to admit that the coalition project has only succeeded in booting out Yahya Jammeh and the rest of the programs on the agenda are a failure. Establishing commissions for various tasks is nothing new, even in the past regimes. However, that in itself is not an end because the resultant consequences always take us back to square one.

We wanted a transformed political culture. That was the reason all Gambians put their resources, energy and lives on the line to end the decadent politics of self-aggrandizement and entrenched corruption.

In my mind, Fatoumatta should be honest enough to apologize without excuses, to the nation, for abdicating the social contract that promised to turn Gambia into a beacon of the Afrikkan hope and inspiration.

If Fatoumatta genuinely wanted to bring the coalition players together, she won’t have had allowed her naked intention to be televised. She would have first of all visited those political offices and personalities for preliminary consultations to prepare a strategy to bring the coalition members together. Remember these are people with varying degrees of temperament and ego. Some of them can’t even stand each other. That’s the reason I highlighted that her effort will only serve the purpose of more media visibility for Fatoumatta but will end up achieving nothing for the Gambian people.

She has failed to do her homework by not waiting to first gain results before attracting public attention on herself and a project that lacks even knees to crawl to the finishing line.

What a waste of a gigantic opportunity for the Gambian people to finally break the chains of ignorance, poverty and subjugation.

Therefore, apology not accepted!
