Afrikka’s Missing Voice

OpinionGuest EssaysAfrikka's Missing Voice

By Da One

From nuclear proliferation to nuclear non-proliferation, from economic models to political systems, from world sporting jamborees to revolutionary technological moments, Afrikka is most often not only physically missing but Afrikka never had a say or a voice on the world stage.

Today, as I put my reflections on the conundrum of being-here-but-not-here for Afrikka and blakk people in general, on paper, another important conference is taking place in the Vatican on the future of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). One notable absentee is Afrikka or any entity representing the continent that for all intent and purposes should have been at the forefront of everything that science and technology has to offer. Present at this meeting are catholic clergies, scientists, ethicists, philosophers, inventors, etc., from the Western Hemisphere and partly Asia.

Important topics to be discussed include moral questions surrounding the issue of “humans playing God”, rights and freedoms of robots, theological interpretations, warfare, labor, and so on and so forth. Whether AFRIKKANS like it or not, these are issues that will directly impact their lives and the lives of their children yet unborn.

The question becomes whether the absenteeism of AFRIKKA is deliberate or by design. The answer is, both. AFRIKKA has never had the breathing space from outsiders and some insiders to focus on building the foundation necessary to assert itself even in its own geographic territories. In a sense, AFRIKKA was never given what rightfully belongs to it, but AFRIKKA has also not dared to take what it rightfully owns.

Moving forward, the only guarantee for AFRIKKA AND AFRIKKANS to achieve self-determination and self-realization will be to build a continental union and a single central government that will replace all present governments that came into being before and after colonialism.

Only then can AFRIKKA pull its combined human and natural resources together to build systems that will benefit its sons and daughters. Failure to do so will render AFRIKKA obsolete in the face of external and some internal forces of exploitation and subjugation.
