The Massacre: Remembering April 2000 Student Massacre

FeatureThe Massacre: Remembering April 2000 Student Massacre
Minister of Justice, Ababoucarr Tambadou, (Center Right) Commemorating the April 2000 Student Massacre

By Landing Nyassi

The Massacre
The country turned red
Bloody red with dripping blood of students
They stood up against the establishment
Bullets greeted them in broad daylight
The Massacre
Our memories should not fly into amnesia
Dreadful memories should not escape
Bloody red memories should not escape
Blood thirsty Perpetrators should not escape
State sanctioned terror should be investigated

The Massacre

Protesters in 2017 Marching in Remembrance Of April 10th & 11th 2000 Gambia Student Massacre
Everyone claim to be innocent like a baby
Hipping all the blame on the man in Mongoma
Like a bee colony a lot had a hand in it
From President, Vice President all the way
To the rank file supporter of the old order
The Massacre
Many excuses were fired by the establishment
“The student kill themselves” -Isatou Njie Saidy
“A clandestine move…” – Therese Ndong Jatta
When is justice going to be rendered?
Sooner or later it would handed down
Whether in this world or in the after life
Justice will prevail
The Massacre the student massacre
